Summary of Transportation System Discussion

Good evening, TERA Fans! Thanks to our wonderful translators, Meiellink and Locien, today we have a bit of news from the official Korean site. Korean CM, Tree, has posted the summary of a community discussion about mounts and traveling around the world of TERA.

Although so far we don't have any information about mounts in TERA, the pegasus flightpath system which flies players to major cities and questing hubs has been active in the game since FGT1.

Check out the translation below and let us know what kind of unique and interesting qualities you'll be looking for in TERA's mount and transportation systems!

Good day, this is Tree.

First of all we'd like to thank all of you who participated in our most recent discussions for leaving us suggestions and criticism about movement and transportation in TERA. We have summarized your suggestions here, so please have a look at them.

What means of transportation would you like to see in TERA?

1. Mount diversification
Many players told us that they want to see more kinds of mounts available in the game because they'd like to enjoy a variety of mounts.

2. Strengthening the abilities of mounts
We received word that players thought it would be good if mounts received strengthened abilities, had their appearance improved and received a strengthening system using crystals.

3. Convenient movement
We've been told that players would like to be able to go directly between towns and hunting spots without
having to walk the route between them. Players also requested a feature that would let you move to specified places.

4. Large scale vehicles
We've received word that players would like to see large scale vehicles such as large boats, buses and subway trains implemented to add towards a more interesting experience.

5. Et cetera
We were also told that players would like to see other things such as a human cannon in Velika and a teleport ring which memorizes a location.

We hope we'll be able to shape TERA's mount and movement systems to match the participants suggestions and demands to make them convenient, and to make TERA fun for everyone.

We also hope that all of you will participate in our upcoming 40th discussion and leave your valuable feedback and suggestions there!

Thank you very much.

Frogster Interactive acquires European license to TERA

Good Morning, TERA Fans! Today the TERA world is buzzing with the news that Frogster International, a European MMORPG publishing company, has obtained the license to publish TERA in Europe.

Currently, Frogster International publishes Runes of Magic, Bounty Bay Online, The Chronicles of Spellborn, and StoneAge 2 in Europe. Though the company is known for handling Free-to-Play games, the press release states that TERA will be using a subscription based model.

Though En Masse Entertainment has not officially commented on this development yet, Frogster International's press release includes comments by Frogster's CEO Christoph Gerlinger, where he states, "We see the licensing of this revolutionary online world as one of the largest deals and milestones in Frogster’s corporate history”.

Also, while it is currently unknown whether this is official or not, members of the official TERA forums have located what appears to be the official European site for TERA.

Tell us what you think of this news and check out the official press release by Frogster International below!

Frogster Interactive acquires European license to the MMO Game ‘TERA’ and with this, to one of the world’s most spectacular new generation MMO Game projects

Berlin, 14.07.2010:

Frogster Interactive Pictures AG, international publisher of massively multiplayer online games with headquarters in Berlin and subsidiaries in Berlin, San Francisco and Seoul, has secured the license for the publishing of ‘TERA’ in Europe. Frogster brings the highly ambitious online role play game by Bluehole Studio Inc. to Europe. The developer founded in 2007 in South Korea has gathered countless talents from the world-leading Korean online games industry in order to create a new generation of online games.

Already at the major computer games show Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) in June, ‘TERA’ caused a big stir with its spectacular real-time battles and impressive “next-generation” graphics. In 2011, ‘TERA’ shall be launched in Europe with a German, English and French version customized for the western market.

TERA – An online game world to set new standards in the genre

A huge and highly-detailed virtual world with triple-A quality claim awaits thousands of players with ‘TERA’. Entirely developed in Unreal Engine 3, ‘TERA’ transcends current representatives of the genre with breathtaking 3D graphical environments, thrilling animations and spectacular effects. The seamless architecture of the massive fantasy world including open “dungeons” guarantees a smooth and fluent game experience without any interruptions by loading times. With six races and eight character classes, ‘TERA’ offers an abundance of possibilities for character creation and development. The dynamic real-time combat system of ‘TERA’ gets players engaged in battles considerably more actively than all traditional MMORPGs. ‘TERA’ is set to be released in 2011 based on a subscription model.

“TERA will set completely new standards within the MMO genre”, commented Andreas Weidenhaupt, CEO of Frogster Online Gaming, upon the closing of the agreement. “We see the licensing of this revolutionary online world as one of the largest deals and milestones in Frogster’s corporate history”, agrees Christoph Gerlinger, CEO of Frogster Interactive Pictures.

Summary of Group Duel Discussion

Good Morning, TERA Fans! Thanks to our diligent translators, Meiellink and Locien, we have a new translation from the official site for you today!

Posted around a week ago, this article was a summary of a discussion the Korean CMs had with the Korean community about TERA's Group Duel system.

Let us know, TERA Fans, what would you like to see in a Group Duel system? Enjoy :D

Good day, this is Lime.

First of all we'd like to thank all of you who participated in the discussion regarding group duels during the past two weeks.

The participants of the discussion gave us great feedback on how to make the Group Duel system a fun part of the game, no matter where or when you want to participate in a duel. We've summarized the most interesting suggestions for you.

What do you want to see in TERA's Group Duel system?

1. Bet amount restriction and receiving bonuses
We have been told that being able to set a lower limit for the amount of money that participants can bet in group duels and adding bonuses to the winning team will increase the incentive to participate.

2. Setting restrictions on the battle area and the length of the battle
In the current Group Duel system there are several points that have been pointed out as disappointing.
We're adding options to restrict the battle area and to change the time limit to change some of them.

3. Addition of different battle modes
We've received word that players want to see various battle modes in the group duel system. We were also told that in order to be more fun, various battle items should temporarily spawn during group duels.

4. Increasing the fun of spectating
You told us that it would be fun if duel spectators were not only be able to view the duel from a distance, but also be able to place bets on contestants between each other.

5. Addition of a balancing system
We received word that to make for a fair fight, it would be good if participants could use a balancing system when both parts agree to it, which would balance out the two teams for a fair fight.

Your passionate comments have definitely reached our development team. We're very much looking forward to the day when we can allow everyone to experience the world of TERA.

We would like to thank all of the participants of the past discussion and ask for your cooperation in the 35th upcoming discussion about our website's functionality.

Thank you very much.

The Garden of Dawn and Kaiador Development Article

Good afternoon TERA Fans! Today we're happy to share with you a newly translated article from Thisgaeme about TERA's low level zone, The Garden of Dawn and the Aman capitol, Kaiador. This article was the first of the Development Reports from Bluehole Studios. While it is a few months old, it still contains lots of great information about these iconic zones!

Thank you very much for your translation, Meiellink and Locien! Enjoy!

Along with the Aman city of Kaidor we're going to introduce you to the Garden of Dawn, which boasts beautiful sceneries. With absolutely breathtaking beauty and dangerous monsters hidden within, the expedition of the Garden of Dawn begins now!

01. The Garden of Dawn

Posted Image

The Garden of Dawn is a mystical floating island located just off the coast of the great city Vellika. The island itself is a physical impossibility, filled with beautiful and mystical natural environments and inexplicable ancient ruins.

The island has enticed many curious adventurers and explorers to visit, however many of them were fooled by its beauty and lost their lives to the dangers lurking within. Many scholars presume that the ancient ruins on the island were built by gods, but no one has been able to confirm this theory and it's still a mystery.

The Valkion Coalition decided to thoroughly investigate the island, hiring volunteers who are now investigating it.

02. The Monsters within the Garden of Dawn

The Guardians of the Forest, Kiruri Du

These Mystical Spirit Trees known as the Guardians of the Forest are thought to be a subspecies of other Spirit Trees that can be spotted throughout Arborea. The Kiruri Du which are huge in size and very tenacious, differ from most other spirits in the fact that they are quite violent and attack without restraint.

The Spirits of Nature, Teron

The Spirits of Nature can easily be spotted anywhere in the Garden of Dawn and look like little dolls carved out of wood. Unlike the Guardians of the Forest they are quite docile.

The Spirit Beasts, Kromos

The Kromos are thought to be a subspecies of monsters that appear throughout Arborea, just like the Kiruri Du. Kromos which are large and violent beasts with two wolf heads, are very agile in spite of their large, muscular bodies.

Pillagers of Darkness

These sly, small demons are causing the most trouble for the already preoccupied investigation team on the island. These demons cause mischief by stealing goods from the team and hunting the team members.

03. The Town of Fire, Kaiador

The world of TERA is composed of 3 continents. In each of them there are major cities such as Vellika, Aluremancia, Kaiador. Kaiador is the economical center of the world of TERA. It also serves as an important hub of transportation, tying the world together.

Posted Image

This enormous city is often called the Town of Fire or The Impregnable Fortress of the North. It is located in the northern hemisphere on the Shara continent. Kaiador is the city of the Aman people and a large fortress that protects the Valkion Coalition from the aggression of the Argon invaders.

After escaping slavery, the Aman built Kaiador to honor their liberator's courage and the warriors' patron saint, Kaia. Kaiador is surrounded by tall steel walls and built upon the remains of what once was the town of the Giants, who shackled and tormented the Aman for so long.

Unlike the other capitols of Arborea, Kaiador resembles a fortress more than a city. The town is focused on durability and practicality as opposed to aesthetics. The smelting work which produces weapons and materials for war is as valuable to the Aman as beautiful stone statues and water fountains. No matter how rustic the other races claim Kaiador is, the Aman who have spend so much time fighting wars and fighting off violent monsters are proud of their city and find it the most beautiful.

Race Lore – The Baraka

Good Afternoon, TERA Fans! Today we're bringing you the history of the Baraka! Though there's not as much information on them as we were hoping for, the description still helps to paint a clearer picture of this stoic race! I have a feeling that once we gather more information on the Giants, we'll learn more about the Baraka.

Thanks to y71s73 for this translation! :D

Castanic

A Brief History of the Baraka
Widely known as the descendants of the Giants, rulers of a vast and mighty empire built in ancient times, the Baraka are a noble and peaceful race.

The Baraka inherited their grand and powerful frames as well as high intellect from their ancient Giant ancestors, though they did not take from their self-righteousness and proclivity for cruelty. In stark contrast, the Baraka are a markedly gentle and tranquil race.

Reclusive in nature, the Baraka shy away from attracting attention. If in the name of research and knowledge acquisition, the Baraka show an unparalleled passion that knows no bounds.

Summary of Important Suggestions Translation

Good morning, TERA Fans! Today we have the latest news from the Korean site translated! This article is another summary of suggestions the TERA team has been getting from Korean players on their discussion board.

This article was translated first by Meiellink into Japanese, by Locien into English, and then edited by me.

Enjoy! :D

Good day, this is Lime.

Thank you for your interest in TERA and for always supporting us as we develop the game.
We are grateful for all of the suggestions that you've sent us these past two weeks through the discussion board.

We've gone through all of the suggestions you sent us, multiple times and put together a summary of your valuable opinions. We hope for such great participation in future discussions.

Here is the summary of the suggestions we've received over the past two weeks.

[Game System and Controls]

▶ It was suggested that players should be able to collect raw materials for various items all over the world. These should be a variety of different items with many options.

▶ It was suggested that the game interface should be as extensive as possible.

▶ It was suggested that there should be informative class descriptions in the character creator so that there won't be any way a player can misunderstand the classes' role.

▶ It was suggested that in order to make movement more comfortable and quick, characters out of combat should be able to walk through characters in crowds. Currently, you cannot walk through other characters, they're solid out of combat and in combat.

▶ It was suggested that the capital cities of TERA should fit in with the rest of the world in appearance and in function. The cities should truly feel like capitals.

▶ It was suggested many times that the development team should focus on creating a very complete game.

▶ It was suggested that the current in-game font should be replaced with a more graphic font.

▶ It was suggested that players should be able to use new skills and gain effects depending on a group's class composition.

▶ It was suggested that sets of items should should have special set bonuses when a player equips parts of the set.

We'd like to remind you that all of your suggestions go right to developer, Mr. Blue.

In order to make TERA even more fantastic we're going through all of your suggestions carefully. We're counting on you to send more of your opinions in the future.

Thank you very much.

This week’s most popular posts!

Good morning, TERA Fans! We recently hit 200 members, yay! Thanks for joining, everyone!

Today, I've decided to put together a list of the three most interesting and popular threads found here at TERA Fans over our first week! Discuss these topics here and have a great Sunday!

Posted Image

So to start 'er off, the first topic that I chose to feature is the "What Race Will Your Main be?" Poll! It was pretty popular reply-wise, with 50 posts. It's also always interesting to see which races players are initially drawn to! I wonder if these numbers will change after more people have gotten to test the game?

As of today, Baraka are the least popular race D; Why do you think that is? It's interesting that they're the only race that will be genderless on release and are also the least popular. Is there a coloration?

With 27% of the vote, Castanics are currently the most popular race, with High Elves a close second. For most gamers, this shouldn't be a surprise, given that they're the most stereotypically beautiful races.

I remember once I read a developer comment where they mentioned that no matter what they do, players will always pick the "pretty" race. Well, looks like they were right for now!

Posted Image

The "What We Know So Far" thread quickly became popular and full of speculation. Among the topics brought up in the 51 replies were suggestions about the game's release, questions about private shops, jumping and lore.

When it comes to a release date, the official TERA-Online site still says sometime in 2010, so there's no reason for us to lose hope on a release this year!

I'm sure the lore will be fleshed out more as things are translated and information is released overall and jumping is apparently in the works still.

What other things would you like to know about the game, but don't yet? I want to know who the guys to the right are Dx

Posted Image

This thread stirred up passion in some and aggravation in others! "The potential for a Sort of Hardcore PvE?" thread quickly became a debate about PvP v. PvE, which it wasn't meant to have! xD

So, I'll try once more! This time, put your biases for or against PvE away and just answer, could TERA revolutionize PvE? Given its unique combat system and monster design, could it make PvE difficult and interesting? If you don't normally like to PvE, would you give it a try in TERA?

Have a great rest of your weekend guys!
