Good Evening TERA Fans! Tonight, we'll explore the history of the arrogant High Elves! Though this is another fairly short description, it's packed with some really good lore and information.

The History of the High Elves
High Elf

A thousand years ago the Elves had built up a peaceful and prosperous civilization, until they found themselves losing the flower of life that their culture revolved around. The aggression of other races and the war of the gods lead to the demise of their beloved artifact.

This forced them to watch the slow collapse of the civilization they had cultivated for so many years. The elves who sacrificed all of their existing values and traditions in order to gain superior power during this time became the High Elves.

Currently, the High Elves have abandoned their ancestors and the gods that led to their previous civilization's end. They now only trust in their own physiques and mentality.

By exceeding their limits a new destiny unfolded and at its peak the High Elves constructed their huge capital of Aluremancia. There, they started the Magic Institution Core and are now known renowned for their superior magical ability and advanced culture.

Character Creation Screenshots Video

Good afternoon, TERA Fans! I've made a little video compilation using screenshots of the race/class combinations found in the character creator! The screenshots are from Korean site Game Chosun and I used each race's theme music for background music.

The video shows the options in the second step of character creation, choosing a class once you've chosen a race. Keep in mind that all races will be able to be all classes and genders, with the exception of the genderless Baraka. In the screenshots, High Elves have less choices because all classes haven't been implemented for them yet.

Without further ado, I hope you enjoy the video, especially if you haven't seen this part of character creation before!

Be sure to watch it in the best quality possible! :] P.S. It looks better not embedded xD

Q. What is TERA?

TERA stands for The Exiled Realm of Arborea and is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). TERA is developed to bring you thrills never experienced before in traditional MMOs with its action-filled gameplay and riveting visuals.

You become part of the realm of Arborea, created by the Ancient Gods. You defend your race in a fantasy world where your creators, descendents of the Ancient Gods, have warred upon each other centuries ago.

Q. How does TERA differ from other MMORPGs?

TERA will set new standards in the industry with its next-generation graphics, ground-breaking gameplay, and its unique community system. TERA is visually stunning and the quality is of those never seen in previous MMO games. Check out our images and screenshots!

You will experience a new gameplay style with TERA. Unlike traditional MMOs, there is no “point and click” system, giving you more control of the character and providing more riveting action play. No longer do you click your mouse and doze off into the sunset waiting for your opponent to die. You will have full control over the attacks and the fate of your enemy. TERA is set in a world where you, the players, will impact the community. The players will dictate the flow of the economy. You will trade, buy/sell more frequently with fellow players and create a community unique to your world.

Q. How many characters and races in TERA and what are the main characters and classes?

TERA has 6 characters, 8 classes and the development team is working towards having all possible combinations available. Numerous customization options are available to create a truly unique character and class. You can specify a character from six choices: Aman, Castanics, Baraka, High Elves, Popori and Humans. You will also be able to choose a character class from 8 choices: Lancer, Warrior, Berserker, Sorcerer, Priest, Elementalist, Slayer and Archer.

The official trailer 1 available on our website is not a cinematic trailer. In fact, it is an actual gameplay footage. Tera Races

“The Aman have historically been a savage race that has known constant war since the dawn of time. As slaves they fought as conquers, but after freeing themselves they have learned to temper their primal instincts and now battle for peace. Today, the Aman are a noble and honorable race that upholds freedom and self sacrifice. They now use their brute strength and hardened bodies to protect themselves and their allies from any and all threats.”

From my experience, the Aman are as tall and muscular as the official description explains. They are lizard-like in appearance and seem to have horns.

“A peaceful and noble race, the Baraka are descendents of the Giants. And from their mighty ancestors they have inherited huge physiques and highly sophisticated intellects. Contrary to the Giants, who were cruel and self-righteous, the Baraka are quite the opposite. Calm and tranquil, they yearn only for knowledge.”

Of note, the Baraka are the only race that has no female option. This race appears to be one of massive, stone titans.

“Since the fall of their Demon God, the Castanics have suffered unspeakable prejudice and oppression dating far back into the Mythic Ages. As a result, they mistrust others and prefer to go at things on their own. Resourceful and hardy, they draw from their innate individual strength to see them through this Age of Chaos.”

Castanics are shorter than most characters and have many variations of deep tan skin tones. Their gear is for lack of better term… sparse. They also have horns whose styles are attached to specific hairstyles.

“A thousand years ago, the Elves were at the pinnacle of their civilization. However, during the War of the Gods, the Elves’ source of power, the Stone of Eternity, was destroyed. Those who survived this disaster discarded their old traditions, denouncing the Gods and burning old alliances. Renaming themselves as the High Elves, they pushed themselves to their physical and mental limits to rebuild their once glorious civilization.”

High Elves are slightly taller than Castanics with skin tones ranging from pale to lightly tanned. Their accessories include ornate ear ornaments.

“Generaly humans have strong and tough body, they are always full of confidence. At present, there’s no objection to they are the leading race of the Arborea’s reconstruction. They recovered ruined territory and established a big city Belika called a summit of civilization, restored peace of the Arborea by repulse all kinds of monsters and invaders at various places, organized the Balkion union; a federation of all civilized races today.”

The Humans in TERA follow the general standard of Humans in games. They’re well built and medium in height.

“The Poporis have cheerful, outgoing personalities. They are the protectors and patrons of the magical forests in Arborea.”

A rather unique race, Poporis are tiny animal-like creatures. A player may choose from physical options that resemble tiny huskies, pandas, gerbils, raccoons, bulldogs, and many other small furry creatures.

What we know about Tera onlne!

Bluehole Studio
Based in Seoul, South Korea, Bluehole Studio is the company behind TERA. The experienced development team is best known for having worked with NCSoft on their Lineage games. Dedicated to creating such a revolutionary game as TERA, the company appears to be aiming towards impressing its audience with compelling graphics, a unique battle system and chances to involve the community in the game’s economy and political system.

TERA
The word TERA is an acronym for “The Exiled Realm of Arborea”. The game has been in development for around three years and it runs on the Unreal Engine 3. Thus far, the game boasts a very unique combat system (which you can preview here), six races, eight classes (both of which can be previewed here), a promised political system, and next generation graphics. Though the exact release date has not been announced, the game is planned to be released in both Korea and North America sometime in 2010. There have been two closed BETA tests so far in Korea and one FGT (Focus Group Test) in the North America region.

Currently, from translations we know the tentative names of ten regions in the game, City of Witches, Vampire Hill, Palanuo Valley, Mist Island, Pirate Cave, Rebellion Plains, The Howling Cliff, Snake Island, Barbarian Valley, and Altar of Dakun. The maps found in game show that TERA will release with probably well over 20 unique regions.

Lore
From what we can piece together of lore, the story of TERA is one of adventure and war, all set on exotic terrain. Some of the playable races, like the Baraka and Popori appear to have lived fairly peacefully throughout Arborea’s history, while races like the savage Aman and hardy Castanics have never shied away from battle. Ever tying to improve on their civilizations, the High Elves and Humans have overcome hardship and work to remain vastly powerful.

Currently there are no factions in TERA, however, the promised political system could have a large impact on what lore we know.

This week’s most popular posts!

Good morning, TERA Fans! We recently hit 200 members, yay! Thanks for joining, everyone!

Today, I've decided to put together a list of the three most interesting and popular threads found here at TERA Fans over our first week! Discuss these topics here and have a great Sunday!

So to start 'er off, the first topic that I chose to feature is the "What Race Will Your Main be?" Poll! It was pretty popular reply-wise, with 50 posts. It's also always interesting to see which races players are initially drawn to! I wonder if these numbers will change after more people have gotten to test the game?

As of today, Baraka are the least popular race D; Why do you think that is? It's interesting that they're the only race that will be genderless on release and are also the least popular. Is there a coloration?

With 27% of the vote, Castanics are currently the most popular race, with High Elves a close second. For most gamers, this shouldn't be a surprise, given that they're the most stereotypically beautiful races.

I remember once I read a developer comment where they mentioned that no matter what they do, players will always pick the "pretty" race. Well, looks like they were right for now!

The "What We Know So Far" thread quickly became popular and full of speculation. Among the topics brought up in the 51 replies were suggestions about the game's release, questions about private shops, jumping and lore.

When it comes to a release date, the official TERA-Online site still says sometime in 2010, so there's no reason for us to lose hope on a release this year!

I'm sure the lore will be fleshed out more as things are translated and information is released overall and jumping is apparently in the works still.

What other things would you like to know about the game, but don't yet? I want to know who the guys to the right are Dx

This thread stirred up passion in some and aggravation in others! "The potential for a Sort of Hardcore PvE?" thread quickly became a debate about PvP v. PvE, which it wasn't meant to have! xD

So, I'll try once more! This time, put your biases for or against PvE away and just answer, could TERA revolutionize PvE? Given its unique combat system and monster design, could it make PvE difficult and interesting? If you don't normally like to PvE, would you give it a try in TERA?

Have a great rest of your weekend guys!
