Good evening, TERA Fans! Today Scapes on the official forums has posted a new set of screenshots of the week. This week features some of the first official shots of the beautiful TeraFans Wiki - High ElvHigh Elf capitol, Allemantheia! Check them out!

Quote

For the fifteenth installment of Screenshots of the Week, we bring you two shots from Allemantheia, the elven capital on Shara. A human archer stands proudly in the foreground admiring the view—dappled light on the waterways, the intricate architecture…it really is breathtaking. It’s no wonder tourists lose days just wandering the city.

On the surface, a welcoming sight. But like all cities, Allemantheia holds its secrets. How far will you go to learn them?

On release, what sorts of things do you hope to see in this city, TERA Fans?

Screenshots of the Week: Ascension Valley

Good Evening, TERA Fans! A few hours ago, Scapes posted some new screenshots of the week. These screenshots feature the area outside of Azarel's Labyrinth.

Enjoy!

Quote

Our fourteenth installment of Screenshots of the Week features shots from outside of Azarel’s Labyrinth in Ascension Valley on the continent of Arun. Found toward the center of Ostgarath, it sits south of the mysterious and alluring city of Castanica. An aman stands at the ready, preparing to enter and fight the abhorrent creatures that lie within, while a horklaton stands off in the distance near an ancient statue with a story few know.

Each level and each chamber of the labyrinth holds its own secrets, and each secret waits for someone courageous enough to discover it.

Note: For those wondering, Azarel's Labyrinth was previously known as Azarel's Temple, featured in the tenth issue of Screenshots of the Week.

Summary of Transportation System Discussion

Good evening, TERA Fans! Thanks to our wonderful translators, Meiellink and Locien, today we have a bit of news from the official Korean site. Korean CM, Tree, has posted the summary of a community discussion about mounts and traveling around the world of TERA.

Although so far we don't have any information about mounts in TERA, the pegasus flightpath system which flies players to major cities and questing hubs has been active in the game since FGT1.

Check out the translation below and let us know what kind of unique and interesting qualities you'll be looking for in TERA's mount and transportation systems!

Good day, this is Tree.

First of all we'd like to thank all of you who participated in our most recent discussions for leaving us suggestions and criticism about movement and transportation in TERA. We have summarized your suggestions here, so please have a look at them.

What means of transportation would you like to see in TERA?

1. Mount diversification
Many players told us that they want to see more kinds of mounts available in the game because they'd like to enjoy a variety of mounts.

2. Strengthening the abilities of mounts
We received word that players thought it would be good if mounts received strengthened abilities, had their appearance improved and received a strengthening system using crystals.

3. Convenient movement
We've been told that players would like to be able to go directly between towns and hunting spots without
having to walk the route between them. Players also requested a feature that would let you move to specified places.

4. Large scale vehicles
We've received word that players would like to see large scale vehicles such as large boats, buses and subway trains implemented to add towards a more interesting experience.

5. Et cetera
We were also told that players would like to see other things such as a human cannon in Velika and a teleport ring which memorizes a location.

We hope we'll be able to shape TERA's mount and movement systems to match the participants suggestions and demands to make them convenient, and to make TERA fun for everyone.

We also hope that all of you will participate in our upcoming 40th discussion and leave your valuable feedback and suggestions there!

Thank you very much.

Ten Ton Hammer: TERA’s New UI, Glyph System and More Previewed at San Diego Comic-Con

Good evening, TERA Fans! Thanks to TERA Fans member Airwolfe591 I've been alerted to Ten Ton Hammer's coverage of the TERA team's community party last night at Comic Con 2010, including a video and a screenshot of the updated character creator.

New Character Creator

New Character Creator.                 Old Character Creator.

This new character creator screenshot contains a few more options than the old one.

  • Sliders: We initially saw character creation sliders in May via a video released by TERA's official Korean website. In this screenshot they are translated.
  • Addition of "presets" and "outfit" tabs. While the presets tab may be self explainatory, I wonder which "outfits" you're able to choose!
  • The adjustment of "details" to "features". This is probably the tab for things like horns and jewelry.

From what I can see on the video, there were two major announcements last night.

Glyph System
  • The glyph system is going to be one way players will be able to customize their characters.
  • Glyphs are meant to alter skills by either reducing their cooldowns, adding additional critical chance rate or increasing their damage output.
  • There will be 20 glyphs available to choose from for each class upon the game's release.
  • They will be obtainable through questing.
  • It will be easy to change which glyphs you have activated, but there will be a limit on how many glyphs you may have active at any time.

Achievement System
  • TERA will launch with an achievement system.
  • Currently there are achievements for things like joining your first group or dying for the first time.
  • The system is still very much under development.

Check out the video from Ten Ton Hammer below, demonstrating the glyph and achievement systems!

UI Changes

In the video, you may also have noticed the modified UI. From what I can see, the UI in the video is much less minimalistic, including graphic icons at the bottom of the screen. Here is a comparison between the old UI and the new one.

What do you think, TERA Fans?

TheGameNet Interviews Lead Writer David Noonan — Twice!

Good evening, TERA Fans! Recently, Scapes on the official forums posted a video interview of Lead Writer David Noonan by TheGameNet at E3!

David sounds very passionate about his job writing for TERA! One of the biggest stand-out moments in the interview for me was when he mentioned that through quests, players will make choices that lead to certain outcomes and that could make almost every character's questing experience unique.

Check it out for yourself!

The interviews continue to roll in from last month's E3 2010! This week, TheGameNet published a pair of video interviews featuring David Noonan, En Masse's Lead Writer. The first is a nine-minute discussion of everything TERA and the second is short "personality" piece. Here is a brief quote from the former:
