One of eight classes. All races are able to choose any class.
Lancer
“The lancers are trained to wield the shield as an extension of their own body. Because of the shield, lancers are mostly known for their defensive capabilities, not only protecting themselves but also others around them. The lancers are considerably slower than other classes due the sheer weight and size of the shield. Therefore, lancers learn to wield a spear along with their shield.”
Lancers are the tanks of Arborea. They use lances and shields which are found as a pair currently in TERA. When first creating a lancer, you are given an initial melee attack with no cooldown and a block skill. All lancers wear heavy armor.
Warrior
“The warriors rely on their guile and lightning fast speed in combat. Because of their grace and agility, they can wield a weapon in each hand to attack or defend in perfect coordination. Though their weapons are light-weight, warriors strike continuously with speed and precision.”
A dual-wielding melee class, warriors rely on their dodge skill to evade attacks. This dodge causes the warrior to jump over an enemy in attempt to execute a flurry of flashy and quick melee skills. They initially begin with a melee attack that gains mana on every hit and combos up to four times and a dodge. These close combat fighters wear light armor, presumably due to their agile nature.
Priest
“The priests, devout worshippers of Yurian, the God of Justice, are able to heal and protect their allies in battle. Priests rely solely on Yurian and their blessed power, rather than heavy armor and weaponry. Their unshakeable faith however, can become a downfall for they rely only on their God and power.”
Dressed in robes and wielding ornate staves, priests are a healing class with what appears to be an array of perks. They begin with one ranged magical attack with no cooldown, a mana restoration skill with a cast time and cooldown and an area of effect heal with a cooldown. Later on, they learn useful spells like Recall which ports the priest and party members to a nearby city and they also are able to learn an ally summoning skill fairly early on.
Sorcerer
“The sorcerers dedicate their lives to research and discovering ways to harness the mysterious forces of the world. They are able to call forth powerful spells using mystical disks to deal damage to their enemies, or to protect and heal their allies. Because of their highly supportive role in battle, it is said that the side with the most capable sorcerer wins the engagement.”
As the official description explains, a sorcerer’s weapon takes the shape of a disk which hovers in front of your character in combat mode. Donned in robes, this class begins its journey with a mana restoration skill and a firebolt skill with no cool down.
Berserker
“Berserkers will charge into any fight swinging their mighty axes and to their enemies, the attacks appear to be uncoordinated wild swings driven by fury. However, their attacks are actually precise and focused. Their range of attack is extremely narrow, which requires extreme precision. The attack patterns are so unpredictable, foes will find that defending against the berserker’s attacks are almost impossible.”
Berserkers are very slow but heavy hitting two-handed axe wielders and heavy armor wearers. They begin with a melee swing that combos and returns mana and a block to avoid attacks from enemies. As they level, this class earns skills which cause knockbacks.
Slayer
“Slayers are one of the most feared sights to see on the battlefield. Their near impenetrable suits of armor and huge weapons, like the Great Sword, cause even the hardiest of combatants to feel a moment of panic. Because of their heavy weapon, slayers are not swift and quick. However, what they lack in speed they compensate with their better sense of judgment.”
The slayer is a fairly hard hitter in its own right; however, it is distinguished from the Berserker by being a good bit quicker and more agile. Wearing light armor, practitioners of this melee class wield great swords and avoid incoming enemy attacks with a dodge skill. Their initial attack is a melee hit which combos and returns mana, but they go on to get a charged whirlwind skill.
Archer
“The archers are highly skilled marksmen able to thin the ranks of their enemies in battle. Firing volley after volley with deadly accuracy, a single archer can cause panic and discord in a battle. Although the archer’s defense is weaker than others, the enemies that try to close in on them will find that the archers are highly mobile and rarely stationary.”
A ranged bow wielding class, archers shoot arrows from a distance. Unlike most bow classes, it is not necessary for the archer to buy arrows as they are created with an infinite supply. Though they initially start with a basic shoot attack, they go on to learn slowing shots and area of effect skills. Archers wear light armor.
Elementalist
“The elementalists call upon spirits and elements to aid them and their allies in battle. Through the strength and wisdom of the spirits, the elementalists can channel spells to help their allies, while casting spells that hinder the enemies. Elementalists can absorb the enemies’ health and mana so that the enemies cause less damage towards others and become easier to kill.”
Currently, the elementlists role is quite a mystery. They are initially given priest-like skills, a magical bolt attack, a heal, and a mana restoring skill. They go on to learn skills like Life Drain which drains an enemy’s life and returns the power as mana. Elementalists wear robes similar to their priest counterparts.
