No news yet for those of us waiting for a retail CE pre-order option, but the En Masse team has been reassuring the community that retail beta-access tangles are being smoothed. Hopefully that includes retail CE pre-order options!

Update 2: A little more information can be found in the new FAQ EME just released. Basically, all I see of note is that it seems to insinuiate that retail copies of the game may have different bonuses than the digital ones.

They keep mentioning some TBD horse! Haha.

Update 1: At this point, none of the physical retailers have the Retail CE version available for purchase. :(

Sadly, pricing in the EU is exactly the same as the NA region. This means that the Standard Edition's €49.95 price tag actually amounts to $65 making it more expensive for Europeans.

Beta Schedule

In addition, En Masse Entertainment released their beta schedule.

There will be five, two day closed beta periods, one open beta, and a head start period for players who pre-order the game. Players who pre-order the game will also have the ability to retain their closed beta characters for the duration of the closed beta period.

Signing up for the beta gets you a chance to be randomly selected to participate and the only way to definitely play in all beta events is to pre-order.

We will be hosting five closed beta tests for TERA starting February 10, each lasting about 60 hours. Those who have signed up for beta have a chance to be randomly selected to participate in single events. Players who pre-order TERA will gain access to all five closed beta tests and be allowed to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period.

TERA's open beta test starting on April 19 will be open to all who sign up. Finally, the Head Start is an event exclusively for players who pre-order TERA , taking place the weekend before TERA's launch on May 1. There will be no non-disclosure agreement (NDA) during any of these events so feel free to screenshot, film, and write about your experiences and share them with your friends and guildmates!

kTERA Introduces Hats

This is sure to come as a happy surprise to those of you that are fans of further character customization or even fans of Team Fortress 2.

From pirate hats for people who feel their warrior just isn't dastardly enough to tiaras for whomever feels their priest just isn't regal enough, this news is sure to please. Taking the information Google Translate gives me from the official announcement I can infer that the majority of hats will be available to anyone who wants them, while there is a single hat (a party hat, no less) in this announcement that appears to be available for a limited time only.

I'll keep this new post updated whenever new information comes out or if a proper translation (read: not from Google Translate) brings up any information I may have missed.

Today, En Masse Entertainment revealed that TERA will launch on May 1, 2012.

No really, yay for NA TERA news! :)

Today, Frogster and En Masse Entertainment have released some official information on TERA's closed beta. Although it's just a prompt to sign up for testing, it hints that closed beta may be around the corner!

Frogster's TERA Europe trailer is above, the announcements and sign up instructions can be found on either site, depending on your region:

Of note is the fact that Scapes has confirmed that previous testers from the Focus Group Tests and Community Play Events will be automatically invited to join in on the testing.

When more information becomes available concerning western beta testing, you can be sure that you'll find it here or on TERA-Online.com.
