Race Lore – The High Elves

Good Evening TERA Fans! Tonight, we'll explore the history of the arrogant High Elves! Though this is another fairly short description, it's packed with some really good lore and information.

The History of the High Elves
High Elf

A thousand years ago the Elves had built up a peaceful and prosperous civilization, until they found themselves losing the flower of life that their culture revolved around. The aggression of other races and the war of the gods lead to the demise of their beloved artifact.

This forced them to watch the slow collapse of the civilization they had cultivated for so many years. The elves who sacrificed all of their existing values and traditions in order to gain superior power during this time became the High Elves.

Currently, the High Elves have abandoned their ancestors and the gods that led to their previous civilization's end. They now only trust in their own physiques and mentality.

By exceeding their limits a new destiny unfolded and at its peak the High Elves constructed their huge capital of Aluremancia. There, they started the Magic Institution Core and are now known renowned for their superior magical ability and advanced culture.

Race Lore – The Baraka

Good Afternoon, TERA Fans! Today we're bringing you the history of the Baraka! Though there's not as much information on them as we were hoping for, the description still helps to paint a clearer picture of this stoic race! I have a feeling that once we gather more information on the Giants, we'll learn more about the Baraka.

Thanks to y71s73 for this translation! :D

A Brief History of the Baraka
Widely known as the descendants of the Giants, rulers of a vast and mighty empire built in ancient times, the Baraka are a noble and peaceful race.

The Baraka inherited their grand and powerful frames as well as high intellect from their ancient Giant ancestors, though they did not take from their self-righteousness and proclivity for cruelty. In stark contrast, the Baraka are a markedly gentle and tranquil race.

Reclusive in nature, the Baraka shy away from attracting attention. If in the name of research and knowledge acquisition, the Baraka show an unparalleled passion that knows no bounds.

Good day, this is Lime.

Thank you for your interest in TERA and for always supporting us as we develop the game.
We are grateful for all of the suggestions that you've sent us these past two weeks through the discussion board.

We've gone through all of the suggestions you sent us, multiple times and put together a summary of your valuable opinions. We hope for such great participation in future discussions.

Here is the summary of the suggestions we've received over the past two weeks.

[Game System and Controls]

▶ It was suggested that players should be able to collect raw materials for various items all over the world. These should be a variety of different items with many options.

▶ It was suggested that the game interface should be as extensive as possible.

▶ It was suggested that there should be informative class descriptions in the character creator so that there won't be any way a player can misunderstand the classes' role.

▶ It was suggested that in order to make movement more comfortable and quick, characters out of combat should be able to walk through characters in crowds. Currently, you cannot walk through other characters, they're solid out of combat and in combat.

▶ It was suggested that the capital cities of TERA should fit in with the rest of the world in appearance and in function. The cities should truly feel like capitals.

▶ It was suggested many times that the development team should focus on creating a very complete game.

▶ It was suggested that the current in-game font should be replaced with a more graphic font.

▶ It was suggested that players should be able to use new skills and gain effects depending on a group's class composition.

▶ It was suggested that sets of items should should have special set bonuses when a player equips parts of the set.

We'd like to remind you that all of your suggestions go right to developer, Mr. Blue.

In order to make TERA even more fantastic we're going through all of your suggestions carefully. We're counting on you to send more of your opinions in the future.

Thank you very much.

Race Lore – The Aman

Though I initially wasn't a fan of the Aman, this has by far been my favorite bit of lore! Translated by one of our newest team members, y71s73, check out the history of the Aman below!

History of the Aman
Sporting fierce visages of powerful beasts, the Aman have persevered through a history rife with conflict.

The Aman are a warrior race, having been embroiled in constant warfare with the other races since the beginning of time. Since the time that their father and creator, Amarune, gave life to the Aman during the Age of Deities, they have engaged their neighboring races in ceaseless battle. Following the death of Amarune, the Aman became enslaved to the Republic of Giants in its quest for continental supremacy.

Recent times have seen the Aman continue to serve the front line in the defense of the Valkion Coalition from the Argon invaders. Having been inured to a constant struggle for supremacy and pursuit of ambition, the Aman experienced a rebirth into a race that valued freedom, prestige, and self-sacrifice following their long ordeal of enslavement. This transformation contributed greatly to the acceptance of the Aman into the ranks of the multi-racial Valkion Coalition.

The Aman possess imposingly ferocious and mighty physiques and powerful willpower cultured over many years of fighting as warriors. They value and show pride in their aspiration for prestige.

Castanic
Daban the Liberator
After succumbing to the ancient Giant race, the Giants branded the Aman with a seal of subjugation that enabled their enslavement. Due to this seal, the Giants were able to control the Aman and sent many to fight and die in their wars over the course of many hundreds of years.

Amidst such adversity and misery rose one Aman warrior, enraged by the endless brutality suffered by his people at the hands of the Giants, named Daban. Daban traveled to the Altar of the Deities and set himself on fire in an extreme plea for an end to the terrible subjugation of the Aman.

The pain and cries of this young Aman warrior moved the patron deity Kaia. With the help of Castanic master craftsmen, Kaia succeeded in nullifying the seal of subjugation. Liberated from the shackles of the seal, the Aman revolted against the Giants, finally winning their freedom after a long and hard fought campaign.

Daban, the young warrior who served as the key to opening the door to the Aman's freedom, was thereafter revered as the Liberator, and statues commemorating him can easily be found throughout territories inhabited by the Aman.

The Impenetrable Kaiador
Kaiador is the fortress city built by the Aman to honor Kaia, the patron deity who saved the Aman in their darkest hour, as well as to house her in her earthbound state, isolated from other gods. This fortress city, erected in the northern part of the Shara continent, is a significant hub supporting the Valkion Coalition. It serves as the sole stronghold blocking the encroachment of the alien Argon invaders.

One of the most interesting things about this bit of lore is that we are able to learn more about the deities of Arborea and also learn the name of one of the continents, Shara. That's pretty huge!

I don't believe we've seen any real pictures of their home city yet, what do you think it'll be like?

This lore also talks more about the Giants, who have been mentioned in the lore of the "Desert Shelter" zone. What do you think of these Giants?

Castanica, the Symbol of Oppresion and Resistance

Today we introduce you to Castanica, the secluded town in the middle of
a canyon where the wandering Castanic refugees decided to settle down
after being ostracized by the other races.

Posted Image

After the death of their demon god Roak, the Castanics were ostracized
by the other races. In order to not catch their attention, the wandering Castanic
refugees decided to establish a village in a secluded valley in the heart of a jungle.

Posted Image

Later on the other races recognized the valiant contributions of the Castanics
during the Argon war and welcomed them as a new member of the Valkion Coalition.
After the entry into the Valkion Coalition, the Castanics' relationship with the
other races grew increasingly peaceful and this little village which once was
for desperate refugees developed into glorious Castanica.

Absolutely stunning! I love how it feels like a huge city, too. Have a good morning, TERA Fans!

Race Lore – The Castanics

Hi there, TERA Fans! This evening's race lore focuses on the nimble and strong willed Castanics. Already proving to be one of the most popular races, I'm sure there's a bunch of you who are interested in Castanic lore, so here you go! :D

As translated by Thats Too Bad, from the Korean race profiles, here's our first look at Castanic lore!

Castanic

History of the Castanics
The Castanics have been under pressure from foreign invasion for the longest period of time of all races.

During the Age of Deities, they were driven out from their homeland by their once brother-like Daeva race. After the War of Deities, they were protected by the demon god Roak, who was thought to eventually bring an end to the world. Due to their relationship with Roak, they were treated badly by other races.

The Castanics were able to become a part of the Valkion Coalition with the help of the Humans of Velika and the Aman, but to achieve that feat many young Castanics disappeared to the battlefield.

To counter all the resentment from other races, they have become a very independent race. To this day, they continue to pass down their traditions from generation to generation.

Castanics are short in height, but have strong physical shapes and are swift in motion and melee combat. Their divine magical affinity is in direct contrast with their small stature, often surprising others. Due to their independent natures, the Castanics have become known for having trouble following orders.

What other races think of Castanics
“Castanics? They're cool looking and capable of doing many things well. But they are hard to command.”

“Castanics? Why would I bother with those insane creatures… no constructive discussion is possible.”

“They were friends of our ancestors. Should we not help them when they are in trouble?”

“Hmm… so maybe say they don’t have any morals? Can’t possibly imagine what they are thinking? Cant make them do anything and they grab weapons on a single alert... heheheh, I’d say just avoid them.”

“Well they are hard to deal with. They don’t like to talk a straight up conversation, and I think for that reason they don’t hang out with us. But they are not evil at all.”

This article brings up a bunch of interesting points! It seems the Castanics have been out-casted for turning to a demon god for help. Could this mean there are two sets of gods in the world of Arborea? It seems there was also a "War of Deities." I wonder if this was a mortal war about deities or a war among the deities?

It also introduces the idea of a non-playable "daeva" race, which is definitely something to speculate about! Do you think we might see them in the world?

I wonder, what made the Humans and Aman help the Castanics? Which quote belongs to which race in this article?

Enjoy and stay tuned for another translation tomorrow night!
