I’d been waiting years for this to be released on DVD, it’s a wonderful movie, my absolute popular adaptation of the recent play – however, MGM messed up.
This edition is a matted letterbox, which means that it’s actually a 4:3 TV image with the fleshy image reduced to fit on the camouflage of a ancient TV mask and has gloomy mattes on the top and bottom.
However, it should have been presented in anamorphic widescreen – which gives the same presentation on a 4:3 TV but also fits a widescreen television situation.

As it is, it will not present properly on a widescreen tv – the image is either stretched out (so that everyone and everything is flat) or is enlarged beyond the border of the tv veil – thus cutting off the subtitles! My wide television has 6 separate indicate formats but I cannot format a paunchy image on my veil that is not warped or severely cropped. Extremely disappointing.
I’m hoping for a fresh right anamorphic widescreen edition to be released eventually, but at least I have the film for now.

This is an absolutely astounding movie. I have watched it again and again. It seems to be one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen, yet it was a very qualified extinct fashioned, innocent, and more professional humor than most other comedies. I consider it is a work of art and should be added to DVD format. Being that noteworthy of my family is German, Gert Fröbe was my well-liked character. A laughable and warm resemblance of the Prussian gentleman of the time. All the national characters were comical too. Terry Thomas was fantastic and gave me plenty of laughs. The Frenchmen and the Italian (Emilio) were stout too. You will unprejudiced feel naturally happier after you peruse this movie. Don’t even hesitate to prefer it!
Finally! The 20th Century-Fox 1965 roadshow extravaganza comes to DVD. The movie looks great in what must be a transfer from a restored 70mm print. On my 16X9 HDTV in progressive scan the images are quite splendid for a film of this vintage. The Dolby Digital 5.0 remastering of the recent 6-track magnetic soundtrack is also a joy to the ears. This is an musty entertainment for the entire family. Thanks to its presentation on this modern DVD the movie is once again a spacious experience. The extras are extensive for such a moderately priced DVD too. Director Ken Annakin provides an moving commentary track and appears in a modern featurette. Somebody at Fox definately loves this movie, one that is a childhood current of mine. I saw it in its current release, and also in a 1969 reissue as fraction of a double feature with Fox’s “Planet of the Apes.” “The Perfect Mates” the ads said, “Apes and Men.” Studios objective don’t don’t do things like that anymore. Anyway, this DVD is a joy!

No thunder with the transfer per se since it is a digital cartoon this edition appears to be from the same source as the previous edition. Should you upgrade? Not if you have the previous two disc edition but if you have the single disc edition and you want the extras, this is the blueprint to go. Sound is crystal sure with nice expend of 5.1 effects.
The DVD ROM printables and “Scrat’s Frozen Fun Facts” an interactive feature that can be accessed during the film appear to be the newest features on this residence. The latter has behind-the-scenes clips you the film in various stages of production while also including comments from experts on natural history discussing the what scientist have the world was like then. Most of the featurettes are recycled from the previous edition. Otherwise the commentary tracks, deleted scenes and fair about everything else is imported from the previous two disc edition of the film. If you purchased the previous two disc station of this movie, I’d steal a pass on this one. There’s no improvement in this edition vs. the earlier two disc place in my mind.
Here’s why:
First, a titanic character driven myth with a certain message. The heroes in this yarn don’t launch out as heroes at all. Sid is an annoying and rather pathetic sloth who is left tedious when all his friends migrate. Manfred is a tremendous with “issues” who at the beginning is walking the faulty scheme for some reason. Why? Does the scene with the intelligent cave drawings elaborate this? Was his wife and offspring killed, and was he walking the corrupt plot to destroy his absorb life? Diego the sabertooth tiger is an order following killer on a mission.
Each of these characters grow beyond themselves to place a human baby. Sid assumes responsiblity and develops courage. Diego learns to believe for himself and do the proper thing. Manfred overcomes his difficulty and self-centerdness and endures all kinds of trials to effect a baby who may grow up to be a hunter of mammoths. This is a legend how anyone, regardless of how non-heroic they may be, can rise above themselves and do what is proper when they have to.
Second, this DVD lets you gawk the movie five different ways: Widescreen, Fullscreen, “Nutty Movie” mode where you can see the deleted scenes as if they’d been spliced serve into the movie, commentary mode, and “obscene chilly” mode where you survey the movie in a window while documentary material plays in another window. How cold is that?
Third, the deleted scenes are actually very bewitching. They have their believe commentary too. Sylvia is a spacious character (a sloth girlfriend of Sid’s) who was going to be in the movie but was slash out and replaced. The commentary tells why.

This is one of Chevy Chase’s finest performances! He takes his comedic genius up a step for this film. The disguises, mannerisms, and laughable dialogue showcase him perfectly. No one can inch those one-liners in like he can.
Fletch is my personal current comedy and without a doubt, one of the funniest movies ever made. Chevy Trot is perfectly cast as Irwin Fletcher, a wise cracking newspaper reporter working undercover on a beach to demonstrate a drug running operation. At the same time, he is incorrect for a junkie by shady millionare Alan Stanwyk (Tim Matheson) who asks Fletch to slay him. Fletch agrees but launches an investigation into finding out why this man wants to be killed. This isn’t lowbrow humor, it’s rapidly witted and very hasty. Fletch requires a few viewings before one is able to grab all the jokes, but it’s well worth it. I’ve seen this movie about 30 times and each and every time I peep, it remains as laughable as the first time I saw it. If you’ve liked Chevy Travel in Caddyshack or National Lampoon’s Vacation, than you’ll cherish him here. The dialogue is witty and extremely quotable. Chase’s Fletch often disguises himself as he investigates the two mysteries, his cheap disguises and alias’ (Ted Nugent, Don Corleone, Dr. Rosenpenis) are hysterical, Lumber is a master of deadpan wisecracks, this movie is a perfect showcase for his talent.Aside from the brilliance of Fletch as a comedy, Fletch functions perfectly as a well made mystery movie. I disagree with one reviewer who praised the movie as a comedy but said it wasn’t a very gracious movie. Fletch is a very estimable movie and aside from Chevy Promenade, there are many other reasons for the success of this classic. Screenwriter Andrew Bergman has written one of the trickiest scripts in Hollywood history, it manages to be flat out hilarious, and provocative in the same light. Whenever I leer this film with a unusual viewer, they are always surprised as to how mighty the storyline grabbed them. Another plus with this movie is Harold Faltermeyer’s proper synthesizer earn. It’s similar to his earlier Beverly Hills Cop accept, maybe even better, it helps status the tone of this movie perfectly. Last but not least, we have the direction, all under the positive hand of Michael Ritchie. He keeps things entertaining and maintains a comedic tone which occasionally borders on seriousness to befriend the yarn progress. Balancing tones isn’t easy, in this film it’s done so well, it’s hardly even noticable.Fletch is all around, an fine film, but before everything else, it’s a VERY silly film. A honest cult classic. For audiences whom have seen Beverly Hills Cop, judge along those lines, I always belief it would be comic to leer what would happen if Chase’s Fletch met with Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley of the Cop films. Once again, Disney misses the stamp with an harmful DVD release. Why do we crave seeing our current stars on DVD? Represent clarity, extra features, restored prints, optional commentary… none of which are evident on this unpleasant release of a fantastic Hayley Mills film. Disney’s inexplicable inconsistency becomes evident when awful efforts such as this one are compared to stellar, awe-inspired efforts such as “The Parent Trap” and “Pollyanna”, multi-disk sets released with quality and features on par with Criterion Collection releases. I give up on buying Disney. Next time, I’m going to rent the DVD first. Why destroy money on modern Disney DVD’s that are contemptible in quality to the VHS versions I already have! Hey Disney, wake up!

First off this is a extraordinary movie, and very unusual in its sparkling Island setting of Crete. It is a fun mystery. Directed by James Neilson, produced by Bill Anderson. Released in theatres in 1964, it starred Hayley Mills, Eli Wallach, Joan Greenwood, and Peter McErney. It is the posthaste paced memoir of two tourists that accidently tangle with some murderous jewel thieves. Hayley plays Nikky, on vacation with her Aunt Frances in a limited Greek fishing village. They stop at a remote sleepy runt inn, and mark that a dashing young man that Nikky is falling for from England suddenly dissappears. Romance, drama, mystery, action, and humor are in this film. The actors all work hard to earn the film believable and do a spacious job. Pola Negri who had not made a film in 20 years was convinced to advance out of retirement, and does a fantastic job as the treacherous Madame Habib. She lives on a yacht and has a cheetah on a leash for a pet. Young MCEnery went on to appear in “the Fighting Prince of Donegal” for Disney.
There is some favorable cultural stuff, the greek wedding dancers costumes were from a musuem, and the dancers were local professionals. Filming on area, Disney spent a fortune rebuilding the village that had been ravaged by WWII. They ancient 25,000 feet of saunter and 2,000 sheets of plywood. The account was taken from a book by Mary Stewart, suggested to become a movie by Mrs. Lillian Disney, but the finished film is delicate far from it’s unique account. But a nice, tranquil blue sky sat over many scenes that perfectly fit our Boys’ usually frenetic action (I mean ‘perfectly fit’ in the plan that their nice, aloof theme music fits them perfectly) . 
Overall, I view the movie struck a generous balance. TPB fans should indulge in it and first time viewers won’t have to know the explain to appreciate the movie.
Some of the best humor has reach out of Canada (Saturday Night Live Players) …and Trailer Park Boys is more of that goofy fun.

Written and directed by internationally acclaimed Indian filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, “The Chess Players” is an award-winning film which would appeal to an international audience for its historic negate blended with human drama and touches of humour and irony. The other reason is that the “dinner” scene ( or “brownie” scene ) on the plane is one of my well-liked scenes in the movie that is inexplicably taken out most of the time it’s shown on TV and on all of the DVDs.
