I was so confused by all the information you can get on humidifiers I bought four and tried them all. I also have an AprilAire Central humidifier and spoke to our HVAC company as part of this. Here’s the net:

When the humidity is right (40%-60%) it eliminates dry skin and stuffy noses. My dog also quit scratching. Guitar makers recommend it.

The Venta LW 44 is my favorite unit. (Note – this review is about the LW44. The LLC 5044436 is similar but wasn’t available when I bought mine. I still thought this might be useful to buyers.) It has no filter at all. It cleans the air using the water. It’s easy to fill, and requires less attention in terms of filling and cleaning. Overall it’s a simpler design. Visually it’s the least obtrusive unit – the only one my daughter would allow in her room. It’s also the quietest. It also cleans the air so it eliminates an air cleaning device. In some reviews it is criticized for not humidifying. Unlike the others it doesn’t have a built-in hygrometer. The moisture it puts into the air is not as noticeable as the others. However, I got a separate hygrometer and it works as well as the others. The humidity can be the same level in a room, and it will feel more humid with one unit than another. The steam units make you feel the moisture the most. The feeling of moisture – by-the-way – is not good. The less it feels moist the better. Venta allows you to use scented oils, if you like that option. Others do not. Amazon has several hygrometers. I got the Honeywell TM005X Wireless Thermo-Hygrometer.

Central Unit – The central unit will not do the job alone. We have a two-story house and it really has no impact on the upper level, where the bedrooms are and where you most need it.

Air-O-Swiss U7142 Ultrasonic humidifier. I saw it at a Bed, Bath and Beyond while shopping and it looked so slick I got it. It’s not obvious until you get it home, but the instructions require you to place it up 3 feet off the ground, even though it looks like a floor unit. This is going to be a problem in most rooms because it limits where you can put it and it becomes the visual focus of the room. It worked for one day, though it produced a lot of white powder that covered the unit itself and would have become a problem for every object in the room. It only got the room to 29% humididty. On the second day the red light was on, so I refilled it and could never get it to work again. After hours of effort and troubleshooting with the customer support line, I could never make it work. The good news is that Bed, Bath and Beyond was super easy to deal with on the return and had the Venta model I discovered when troubleshooting the Air-O-Swiss.

Honeywell QuietCare – This unit will definitely humidify a room. It has a built in hygrometer. So you can set it to get to a certain level and stop. The two big tanks make the job of filling it less frequent, and the two-tank design is a good idea since it would be hard for most people to handle a single tank with 11 gallons of water. On the downside, it’s a bit loud on high and you need it on high when it’s cold outside and the humidity inside is low. The tanks often don’t work, as they have to be positioned just right and I’ve never mastered getting them on 100% right 100% of the time. It has a filter, so it’s cleaning he air – but the instructions tell you to remove the (rather large) filter and re-wet it every time you fill it. That’s such a pain I doubt anyone would do it. Another reviewer suggested just flipping it over each time – good idea! After a while it begins to smell a bit moldy, so you have to clean it and change the filter. I ordered this from Amazon.

Honeywell Quick Steam – This unit also definitely quickly and noticeably humidifies a room. Since it’s the hot steam type you can actually see the steam and you feel it more in the air. It has a smaller tank – needs refilled more often. Also has a filter, but only for the water, so it never has a bad smell. It gurgles and my wife can’t sleep in a room with it. The sound from the other units is limited to the sound of the fan, which on low is fairly quiet and on high is like white noise. I also ordered this from Amazon.

I have a copy of the DVD they are selling above. It is definitely NOT Drunken Master II. This is the fresh Drunken Master, made in 1978 I deem, and its really a fine movie. The only pickle is, the DVD is the absolute worst transfer of anything I have ever seen in my life. The relate is so horrid and blurry, and the sound is crap. It’s watchable, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I gave it 5 stars for the movie, 0 stars for the dvd, which averages out to 3.

Most of the reviews on this page seem to refer to the classic “Drunken Master”. “Drunken Fist Boxing” is not that movie and is nowhere arrive as genuine. The only scenes JC has are actually stolen from the first “Drunken Master”.

I decided to upgrade from my $400 range Pioneer home theater 5.1 package. At the moment I have a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver and a pair of cherry TSi 200s. With just these two speakers, the listening experience far exceeds what you here from the typical $300-$600 complete home theater packages you would typically find at Best Buy or Costco. Although I have the rest of my sytem on order, I could be happy if I only had these speakers. If you are a music lover, these will keep you happy.

That said, I should point out that my taste in music leans toward all things acoustic. Listening to a range of music from bluegrass to string quartets to full symphony, these have great clarity and you can hear every instrumen. Drum sounds are tight and even without a subwoffer, the mid-range / bass sounds really good. And vocals (think Nora Jones, Alison Krauss, or the gravelly voice of Dave Von Ronk), are handled with ease.

And if you like the look of speakers with the grille removed, get the cherry. It certainly looks like real wood veneer and the construction just oozes a look of quality.

The sky is the limit with speakers, but at $300 for the pair, these will make your ears as happy as speakers costing a lot more. These have very clear treble, I didn’t notice any boominess in the midrange, and bass response was nice and tight. Based on these speakers, I expect that movies with effects should be amazing when the rest of the speakers arrive.

A fine choice for bookshelf speakers
These speakers sound great. They can handle some serious sound and not even flinch. Nice rich bass tones for such small speakers. And make no mistake when they say loud speakers they mean loud. No need for big bulky speakers like in the past.
You will not be disappointed with these babies.

Gread mid and high freq aura
Pros: Great deal of sound detail. Amazing wide sound stage. Best at low to mid volumes – they shine at their best.

Cons: Need a sub. Period.
Only a single pair of binding posts (no bi-amping, bi-wiring possible).

It fair so happens that my family was friends with the Hackers in the 1970s and we even took a coast on the Rhine river together. Dinky did we know at the time the emotional weight that jog must have had on Ruth (Ms. Hacker’s mother) . But I write this as an ubiased viewer: my husband shed more tears watching this movie than I.

Fantastic!
I bought this exact Le Angelique curling iron but in pink. I bought it after I saw a tutorial video on YouTube where the girl used this curling iron.

Anyways, I’m pretty low maintenance and never do anything with my hair. I’ve owned curling iron before but never really used them because my hair doesn’t hold a curl and I can never successfully curl the back of my hair.

But when I saw this curling iron on sale for $40.00 when it’s normally $200.00, my shopaholic kicked in and I had to buy it. And man I’m so glad I did! My hair looked ADORABLE! Cute little spiral curls and the back looked great! It took a little getting used to because it’s not like most curling irons, but it only took me about 40 minutes to do my whole head… but I know I will get faster over time. The curls also lasted for 3 days!!! I was so happy.

I must mention that I did burn myself quit a few times because I got too cocky and stopped wearing the heat protective glove haha. It comes with the glove for a reason, so wear it.

I absolutely LOVE this curling iron and I will be curling my hair a lot now that it’s easy.

An unshaven and weather-beaten young man sits brooding over a cup of coffee in an anonymous roadside café. A man of means by no means, as Roger Miller would attach it. But Al Roberts (Tom Neal) is king of no road, and by the raze of DETOUR we wonder whether he is even sovereign over his fill soul.

Roberts is noxious, though. He’s coming from Hell and he’s going to Nowhere, and the last thing he needs is a chatty trucker along for company.

DETOUR is told in a flashback from that lonely stool. Roberts and his girlfriend work as pianist/singer in a fleabag club out east. Comes a foggy night and she splits up with him to pursue fame out west. Weeks later he calls and they agree to earn attend together. He’ll arrive out west and they can be married.

Being down at his heels Roberts is forced to hitchhike to California. All goes well until he reaches Arizona, where Fate deals Roberts one substandard hand after another. In short order the innocent Roberts finds and feels himself a hunted man.

DETOUR is a unbelievable film. Neal is perfect as the temperamental young musician who finds himself trapped first by and accident and later by femme fatale Ann Savage, who know his dreadful secret and has no scruples against using it against him for her enjoy inappropriate purposes. Old-fashioned B-movie director Edgar Ulmer has enough tricks up his sleeves to surmount the Poverty Row studio conditions he was working under. If you’re a fan of film noir, or savor hard-bitten stories, you’ll be pleased DETOUR.

By the arrangement, my thirty year mature first edition copy of The Film Encyclopedia had an engrossing entry on DETOUR’S star Tom Neal. He received a law degree from Harvard University in 1938. Throughout the forties he appeared in a number of B-movies, usually cast as a tough guy. In 1951 he found himself in the middle of a adore triangle bright Franchot Tone and Barbara Payton. Neal “smashed” Tone’s nose and a scandal ensued. Neal became poison and no studio would spend him, so he became a gardener and later established a landscaping business.
